About Us
Just Caring Legal was founded in 2016 by Rosalind Hughes, a qualified solicitor and highly skilled practitioner who has been working in the legal profession since 1995.
What is Rosalind's background?
Rosalind became particularly interested in care fees recovery due to her work with the Citizens’ Advice Bureau and later the care homes department of a large firm of solicitors in Newcastle.
Rosalind's Story
Having started her professional life as a litigator, Rosalind later worked with vulnerable clients on welfare benefits, debt matters, family law, employment and housing. She found herself becoming more and more passionate about the issues she was advising on, and especially the injustices she encountered at that time around NHS CHC and wrongly paid care fees.
Why did Rosalind start Just Caring Legal?
Having met many, many families who were wrongly paying substantial care home bills for vulnerable family members suffering significant healthcare issues such as Alzheimer’s disease and other forms of dementia, Parkinson’s disease, cancer and Multiple Sclerosis, Rosalind felt driven to start her own specialist firm dedicated purely to challenging these cases, putting to good use the litigation skills she had honed in her earlier career.
Rosalind has a great deal of empathy with families who have been wrongly denied access to NHS Continuing Healthcare funding and has developed highly effective strategies for mounting successful challenges on their behalf. Her overall aim is to provide a listening, caring, holistic service for people who are facing some of the most difficult situations of their lives.

Rosalind carried out an amazing service for my family in presenting a case on two occasions that resulted in claiming back care fees from the CHC for care that my mother should have received from them during her long battle with dementia. Rosalind listened to the facts we presented and took on our case. She supported me during periods of stress in trying to proceed with the claim. Without her support, knowledge, dedication and determination we would not have been sucessful. She never gave up, especially on the second claim, where it was being denied at every stage.
